The Athenaeum A List (our membership group for young professionals) presents an evening of music by Les Shelleys. Les Shelleys are an acoustic guitar/vocal duo from Los Angeles, consisting of folk singer Tom Brosseau and his singing partner Angela Correa, better known as the indie-pop singer/songwriter Correatown. Tom Brosseau has been featured on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday and Prairie Home Companion. Les Shelleys self-titled debut album together is a collection of tracks taken from a vast body of recorded works—beautiful, harmony-heavy voice and guitar arrangements of American standards and folk traditionals from various points of the last century.
“a charming meander through Guthrie, Dylan and vintage pop”
- The Guardian UK, Hidden Gems of 2010
“Their sweet, quiet songs conjure the same lovely, swoony magic as watching a kiss in a 1940s movie—you know, when onscreen seduction meant something quite different and rather lovely.”
- Time Out New York: Recommended Show
After the concert, guests are invited to take a peek at Kathleen Marshall's Main Gallery exhibition: Still in Paris, have their portrait sketched by bohemian Niles Fairman and enjoy left-bank themed refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there!
