Wilson’s Honey and Salt album, celebrating the poetry of Carl Sandberg, was recognized on over 30 worldwide “Best of” lists, including Top Ten in the NPR Critics Poll, JazzTimes, Irish Times, Boston Globe, Jazziz, and All About Jazz. The album received a coveted five-star review in DownBeat and was recognized as the top album of 2018 by the Jazz Journalists Association, which also named Wilson as Musician of the Year. The album’s title, which takes its name from a 1963 collection of Sandburg’s poetry, captures the delectable combination of sweetness and spice that characterizes the poet’s—and Wilson’s—work.
