June 28 (1 Day, 3 Total Hours of Instruction)

We are pleased to offer this class online using Zoom video conferencing. This mimics, as closely as possible, what normally happens in our classrooms at the Athenaeum. In this time when many of us are experiencing anxiety and isolation, this format allows us to continue to provide enriching experiences of artistic growth and community building.

The technology to make this happen is quite simple. You only need a computer (phone or tablet) with a camera, microphone, and internet connection and we are here to help you should you experience any technical difficulties.

Once you register, look for an email with more information and detailed instructions in the week preceding the class start date.

Stay safe and be well! And thank you for your continued support of our school.

MATERIALS: Required: A variety of stones of different shapes and sizes (should be scrubbed and washed); pencils with erasers (we use the eraser end); Q-tips (wood ones are best); matches ; two to three pointed-tip paintbrushes (can be inexpensive); fluid acrylic pigments, at least five to six colors and White (I like to use Golden Fluid Acrylics, but I think anything acrylic would do as long as it’s the liquid pigment); plastic or paper plates or bowls; plastic cup (for water); paper cups; scissors; newspaper; paper towels; paint rags.

Optional: Liquid acrylic gesso (I personally use Liquitex Acrylic Gesso): white and black; aluminum foil; wire racks; file cards (or some form of paper); nail polish; stencils/patterns; white pencil; colored pencils; latex gloves; apron
