Harry Pickens’ career as a jazz pianist has taken him to countries throughout Asia, Europe and the Americas, featuring collaborative performances with many of the world’s brightest jazz stars, including Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Henderson, James Moody, and many more. His multifaceted musical career has included commissions for choral works featuring the poetry of Wendell Berry and a recent performance for the Dalai Lama. The 2009 recipient of the Kentucky Governor’s Award For The Arts In Education, he also serves as Artist-In-Residence for the Kentucky Governor’s School For The Arts, and has received the 2018 Fund For The Arts Lifetime Achievement Award.
