His latest project is a program of original music inspired by his artwork in another genre—photography—about which Wilson wrote:

Most mornings I wake up and go out wandering with my camera, sometimes in my hometown of Los Angeles, often in places around the world where I am traveling on tour. I look, watch, and take in the space around me. In Songs and Photographs the visual and musical paths of my process converge into a single work in which the songs and the photographs speak back and forth to each other.

JazzTimes commented that Wilson’s music is “alternately breezy, fierce and openhearted, and commands your ear and your emotions from start to finish.” This performance features a special appearance by Nashville-based, multiplatinum Grammy–winner Matt Rollings, whose associations range from Elton John, Lyle Lovett, Billy Joel, Johnny Cash, and Queen to Metallica, The Dixie Chicks, Mavis Staples, and Sheryl Crow.
