A two-day plein air workshop in Borrego Springs will focus on capturing the unique lighting and color of our local desert. We will begin in the classroom with a demo on color and aerial perspective followed by a morning plein air session in the Art Park. The workshop will conclude with an in-person critique of student work. 

Materials needed: Portable easel; Compose It 6-in-1 Grid; several 6” x 8” or 8” x 10” canvas boards; half-dozen brushes; Robert Simmons natural bristle flat #40F in sizes 2,3, 4, and 6. A small, pointed sable brush for detail. One small steel palette knife; Gamsol odorless solvent, small cup, or container, 12” x 16” wooden palette or Gray Matters Palette; paper towels, Sun hat, old shirt. Oil Paint: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium,* Cadmium Yellow Medium,* Cadmium Lemon,* Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White (large tube), Cadmium Orange.* 

* Buy only pure cadmium colors, not hues.
