In this two-day workshop we will explore using a variety of wood type to make letterpress posters and prints. We will make multi-layered prints using transparent inks from light to dark.

The recent book Only on Saturday: The Wood Type Prints of Jack Stauffacher will serve as one source of inspiration. Using large ten-inch wood type in Helvetica Neue Bold, we will create dramatic posters and broadsides.

We will create different backgrounds for our posters and explore composing prints using text as image. Beginners and experts alike are welcome. Join us for a fun-filled exploration of the addictive art of letterpress.

MATERIALS: A materials and supplies list will be sent before our first class. A $20 materials fee will be collected at the first meeting.
