Join us for a still-life oil painting workshop inspired by an elegant holiday party. All aspects of still-life painting will be covered in this two-day workshop; accurate drawing, perspective, composition, and color mixing with a limited palette will be taught using a tabletop arrangement of silver, crystal wine glasses, and flowers.
Grab a coffee, and we will begin each morning with a PowerPoint lesson followed by a demo on painting process and technique. Afterward, students will paint independently for the remainder of the morning. As the paintings progress, students will discuss creative issues and learn through discussion and group critique.
Pat welcomes students of all levels.
Materials: $5 materials fee at the first class; canvas or canvas panel (square or rectangle 8” x 8”, 11 x 14”, 12 x 12”, or 12 x 16.” Brushes: Half-dozen brushes, white bristle flat or filbert, # 2, #4, #6. One medium size-palette knife; small, pointed round brush for detail # 2–#4. Oil Paints: Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium,* Cadmium Yellow Medium,* Cadmium Lemon,* Phthalo Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Permalba White, Cadmium Orange,* Red Iron Oxide or Burnt Sienna. Other: paper towels; Gamsol odorless solvent; container for solvent with lid; Winsor & Newton Liquin; wooden palette.
* Be sure to purchase true Cadmium colors not Cadmium Hue.
