In this class you will learn all about traditional oil painting techniques and materials. If you are serious about learning or if you are just curious, we will cover it all from A to Z. This is a hybrid class: two sessions will be online on Zoom, and two classes will meet in the studio. The first online class will cover essential studio supplies, types of substrate (canvas), types of brushes, and how to use solvent and oil painting mediums.
The second online class will concentrate on the two essential processes of traditional painting: direct (alla prima) and indirect method (classical painting technique).
Each week you will be able to try your new knowledge out at your own speed at home and then …
We will meet for a two-day workshop (two in-person classes). Pat will demonstrate the process of painting a still life; afterward students will paint independently with individual instruction as needed.
