Silk aquatint is a non-toxic intaglio technique, similar to a collagraph. This painterly technique produces beautiful, rich tonal variation. In this three-day workshop, students will learn how to prep their plates, produce an image, and print using an etching press.
Students will work off a plexiglass plate covered in fine mesh and use acrylic paint and gloss medium to build up their image. The plates get inked up like a traditional intaglio plate. This is a solvent-free technique.
