62. Intro to Letterpress

In this class, students will learn the basics of letterpress printing with lead and wood type on Asbern cylinder and flatbed proof presses. We will get familiar with typesetting, mixing ink, proper lockup with furniture and quoins, printing techniques, and the cleaning process. Students will be able to create editions of prints and receive guidance for a project of their choice, which could include broadsides, chapbooks, posters, and cards.

 

Materials Materials will be provided with the materials fee. Students can bring their own paper to print on or use what is in the studio.
