Didactic concert and discussion led by Francisco Eme.

 

This is a series of concerts and listening events in which we will be listening to music performed by a local and or international band/performer. The concert and listening events will include a Q&A session and conversation to explain musical elements as well as concepts, techniques or the sociopolitical background of such music. The audience is invited to participate, ask questions and comment about the music presented.

About Son de San Diego:

Son de San Diego plays music from the southern region of Veracruz State in Mexico known as Son Jarocho. They use traditional string instruments (jarana, guitarra de son, and tamira). The best known song from this tradition is "La Bamba."

The concert will be in person at the Athenaeum Art Center. There are no physical tickets for these events. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Seating is first-come; first-served. This event will be presented in compliance with State of California and County of San Diego health regulations as applicable at the time of the concert.

Masks optional. If you have a fever, cough, or flu-like symptoms, please stay home.
