The Life and Music of Cole Porter | Bruno Leone

Porter at the piano copy.jpg

Cole Porter holds a special place in the history of the Broadway musical. Not only was he a composer par excellence, but also many consider him Broadway’s finest lyricist. Pianist, humorist, and raconteur Bruno Leone will play, sing, and chat his way through the music, lyrics, and life of this great American icon. Mr. Leone’s performance will focus on Porter’s singular contribution to musical comedy and illustrate how and why Porter’s music was simply an extension of the composer’s unique and flamboyant lifestyle.

Leone performs throughout the United States, where he celebrates the lives and music of America’s most heralded composers and lyricists. Leone’s performances capture the legends and folklore of American popular music in a way achieved by few entertainers. A feature article in the San Diego Union-Tribune praised Mr. Leone’s “remarkable skill of combining the classroom with the concert hall to create musical stories that actually enliven his audience.”
