New Faculty!
Nicole Rixon is a San Diego-based contemporary artist and art instructor whose vibrant, playful work celebrates color, nostalgia, and the joy of everyday life. With a background in graphic design and an MBA in Leadership, Nicole brings both creative expertise and an entrepreneurial spirit to her teaching. She founded and grew a successful creative business, taught thousands of students, and shared her expertise as a conference speaker before returning her focus to fine art. Working primarily in acrylics, oils, and mixed media, she encourages students to embrace experimentation, develop their artistic voice, and find joy in the creative process.
Big creativity comes in small packages! In this five-week course, students will create a cohesive collection of nine miniature works of art using acrylic painting, collage, drawing, and mixed-media techniques. Through explorations of composition, color relationships, repetition, variation, and visual storytelling, students will develop a personal theme and discover how individual pieces can work together as a unified collection. Emphasis will be placed on creative experimentation, personal expression, and finding connections between individual works. By the end of the course, students will have a collection of nine original pieces designed to be displayed together in a beautiful 3×3 arrangement.
