Ron Lemen

NEW INSTRUCTOR! Ron began his artistic journey in the high-adrenaline world of extreme sports, where creativity had to move as fast as the culture itself. Designing graphics for skateboards, snowboards, and surfboards, along with shoes, wheels, apparel, and gear, he forged a flexible, fearless imagination—one shaped by constant problem-solving and an instinct for visual rhythm.

From those kinetic beginnings, Ron transitioned into the vast landscape of the entertainment industry, contributing to Hollywood films, television, and interactive media. His roles have spanned concept design, matte painting, 3D modeling and animation, scriptwriting, and even intricate puzzle design for some of the world’s most beloved video games.

Eventually, his path led him to a nearly vanished tradition—the Atelier system—where the practice of figurative realism endured in quiet corners for those who sought it. Immersing himself in this rigorous lineage, Ron not only mastered its disciplines but became a devoted instructor, eventually overseeing entertainment and foundational programs at top-tier art schools in Hollywood and founding his own atelier in North County San Diego.

Today, Ron continues to work in entertainment while mentoring professionals across the industry, including teaching through the Hollywood guilds. He also channels his vision into the fine arts, painting commissioned portraits and landscapes for collectors around the world—balancing the pulse of contemporary creation with the calm precision of classical practice.
