Athenaeum Library Book Sale

Holiday Bookstore

Saturday, December 14–28

10 AM–4 PM

Get a gift for a friend or yourself at the Athenaeum's yearly holiday book sale from Saturday, December 14 to 28 from 10 am to 4 pm! As usual, we will have a large selection of gently used books and compact discs. Find a great gift that can be opened again and again! We hope to see you there!

Join us for live music by bassist Rob Thorsen and guitarist Victor Baker on the Athenaeum patio on Saturday, December 14, from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. The bookstore will have gently used books, CDs, vinyl LPs, and sheet music. Our gift selection will feature handcrafted holiday cards, jewelry, and ceramics by local artisans. Find a great gift for yourself or a friend!

We are also looking for donations to improve on the usual mix of books, CDs, and LPs we already have. Gently used books, fiction or nonfiction on any subject, are particularly welcome. All we ask is that you call us first to confirm the acceptability of the gift and to arrange a time to drop it off.

We look forward to your assistance in making this a successful sale, and don’t forget—even if you don’t have anything to contribute for the sale, you can always help us out by attending it!

Donating Books

The Athenaeum accepts donations of gently used—or new—books of most genres, as well as CDs, DVDs, and jazz LPs, to be sold at our quarterly book sales. (A smaller selection is available during library hours year-round.) We do not accept donations of periodicals, text books, VHS, or non-jazz LPs. Any soiled or damaged books will not be accepted. We are also searching for more volunteers to help sort and price books and work the sales. Donations are taken on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (or on other days by special arrangement). We appreciate donations of ten or more books to be delivered in bags or boxes. Please contact librarian Kathi Bower Peterson at (858) 454-5872 or kpeterson@ljathenaeum.org to make arrangements for a donation.
