BARRY BELL

Occurrences, A Photographic Aggregate and selections from the Baja Portfolio

January 8–31, 1991

Two installations by San Diego architect, photographer, and painter Barry Bell were exhibited. Occurrences was comprised of sixty 3x3” photographs in 12x12” frames, hung in a 4’ high by 15’ long grid. The Polaroid SX-70 photographs, taken between 1980 and ’90, were presented in a single, collective piece so that the individual images might benefit from random and intentional associations, and that the sum may be greater than the parts. Works from the Baja Portfolio included photographs of land- and seascapes.
