Bound & UnBound featured artists’ books from the Athenaeum’s own extensive collection, and that of the Mandeville Special Collections Library, UCSD, including works from 30 selected local and regional presses, from Black Sparrow to Yolla Bolly. It also featured a glossary wall, which explained certain bookmaking terms. It examined what a book is, what constitutes a small press, and various technologies of printing and bookmaking. Iron Bear Press displayed a working press and printed Athenaeum bookmarks.
