DAVID TEEPLE

Fluidic Refraction Devices and other objects/Photographs, sculpture and artist’s books

May 24–July 26, 2003

The Athenaeum exhibited work by East Coast artist David Teeple encompassing the concept of water. In this first West Coast exhibition, Teeple’s “waterworks” came from themes he used on the East Coast and in Europe, but his all-new work was created specifically for this locale, and the library space. Work included photographs of the surface of the ocean taken from a helicopter over the waters of La Jolla and San Diego, his trademark tanks filled with water, and other two- and three-dimensional works.
