ERNEST SILVA

Recent Paintings and Sculpture

April 3–May 8, 2004

Silva’s recent works, begun in the summer of 2001, were influenced by a time spent in Italy and his return to the US with the disturbing images of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in September 2001. The images for this show included many the artist has used in the past (landscape, deer, fire, boats) and new images drawn from popular culture and art historical references ranging from Goya, the Renaissance, folk art, and Greek and Roman sculpture.
