ALIDA CERVANTES

New Works and Sign Paintings

June 23–July 28, 2007

Cervantes showed seventeen larger-than-life portraits and eight smaller Tijuana sign paintings for this exhibition. Cervantes was born to a father native to Mexico City, and a mother from Mexicali. The artist herself was born in San Diego but considers herself first and foremost Mexican. She examines her identity through her portraiture.
