What Comes to Mind/Human Nature & Visual Translation

January 5–February 9, 2013

The exhibition presents the San Diego artist as visual translator across the fields of art, medical science, and global environmentalism. Included are several types of artist’s books, wall books, pen-and-ink drawings, as well as a walk-in book of wild birds and grasses. Water is a prominent theme in some of these works, and brain images appear in others. Cutler-Shaw has held appointment as Artist-in-Residence and Visiting Scholar at the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
