San Diego-based artist Perry Vásquez presents a new series of paintings, UNDER THE PERFECT SUN, focusing on images of burning palm trees against empty blue skies, placing it in the California pop tradition of painters like Ed Ruscha and John Baldessari. Vásquez graduated with a BA in Political Science and Studio Art from Stanford University and an MFA in Visual Art from University of California, San Diego. Painting Mehel-om-pom-pavo, 2018, purchased with funds from the Art Committee: Athenaeum Permanent Collection 2018.09. In-house booklet. This exhibition is funded in part by grants from the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and the County of San Diego.
