The Athenaeum is pleased to present Zandra Rhodes: Some Artworks, a collection of paintings, drawings, and prints, along with small items hand-painted and designed by Zandra Rhodes, which will be exhibited and available for purchase at the Athenaeum. A longtime friend of the Athenaeum, Rhodes has previously featured several exhibitions including her opera designs in the Joseph Clayes III Gallery.
Items for sale include collectable, limited edition items from Zandra’s personal archive, including:
Champagne glasses, hand painted by Zandra
Signed giclee prints and sketches inspired by Zandra’s travels and her home in Del Mar
Etchings and framed silk scarves from the early 70s
Printed canvases featuring some of her best-known design motifs, from her collaboration with furniture house Christopher Guy
Large original paintings from the 80s, from previous collections like Secrets of the Nile
Xeroxes from Zandra’s sketchbooks, in various sizes, hand-signed
Dame Zandra Rhodes has been a notorious figurehead of the UK fashion industry for five decades. Her notoriety as a print designer combined with an affinity for fine fabrics and color has resulted in a signature aesthetic that is undeniably unique and continues to stand the test of time. Zandra’s career has seen her continuing to collaborate with brands that inspire her: in 2021 there will be a launch of Zandra Rhodes x IKEA.
