Library Project: Work in Progress: Photographs by Roger Mertin

April 6–May 8, 1993

In collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, the Athenaeum presented a selection of photographs by Roger Mertin from an ongoing body of work titled Library Project: Work in Progress. This exhibition of color photographs included images of the interiors and exteriors of private research libraries, publicly funded neighborhood libraries, and mem­bership libraries from across the country. Mertin is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Rochester, New York, and has exhibited extensively in the United States and Canada, including venues such as the National Gallery of Canada, Ot­tawa; the Photographers’ Gallery, Toronto; and the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House, Roches­ter.
