Twelve works using mixed media, collage, and acrylic paint are all paintings on fields of actual drug prescriptions from the 1950s that the artist found in his studio, a former pharmacy in Sherman Heights. “I couldn’t resist using them in my work,” Miller wrote in a note for the exhibition. “Everyone seems to be on meds these days, including myself. There’s a pill for everything.” Titles include Got Meds?, Lenny Bruce, and Mother’s Little Helper. Anything But Rehab has a woman in a bathing suit, with a postage stamp and the word HAITI at the top. A limited edition of signed posters of this piece was made available for sale with half of the proceeds to aid Haitian earthquake relief.
