San Diego New Music beautifully challenges all the senses in season opener

San Diego New Music opened its 2016-2017 season Friday evening with the first in a series that will explore musical perspectives on California’s ongoing drought. If Friday evening’s program is a harbinger of what is to come, audiences will be challenged to use the full range of their senses by composers who strive to bring the outside world — wet and dry, harsh and pleasant — into the concert hall.
